The Vocational Program is designed to meet the vocational needs of people with disabilities. Specific work needs may vary depending on the physical, emotional, cognitive and other needs of each person. The Vocational Program can offer the following:

  1. Personal Identity Development
Work is presented as a therapeutic tool which may enhance a person's self esteem, sense of accomplishment, and sense of purpose by meeting realistic production and quality goals and performing meaningful work relationships.

  2. Work Incentives - Earning as a Tool
Earning an income is essential to one's self-esteem. Each worker has the opportunity to increase his or her earnings based on demonstrated ability to produce quality of work and overall accuracy. Goals and incentives are calculated on an individual basis, determined by productivity and accuracy percentages. When these monthly goals are obtained, a monetary reward is given, based on the individual case. The following programs may offer attractive incentives to work:
    • Personal and behavioral incentives
    • Social Security incentives
        (a) PASS (Plan to Achieve Self-Sufficiency)
        (b) IRWE (Impairment-Related Work Expenses)

  3. Communication Skills Each worker has the opportunity to work with co- workers and supervisors forming relationships and improving communication skills.

  4. Positive Atmosphere & Work Environment Workers benefit from a supportive work environment in which specially trained job coaches provide supportive employment services to each worker. Each job coach is responsible for giving direct support, training and education.

  5. Structure & Consistency Everyone benefits from a structured work environment. The Vocational Program is structured to meet the needs of each worker. Each worker is given the opportunity to establish consistency and familiarity of both the work setting and the work product.

  6. Employee Satisfaction Everyone likes to pursue their personal interests. Each worker will be given an opportunity to work in occupational categories related to their vocational interests.

  7. Accountability Each worker will have an opportunity to be responsible for their product and the quality of their work. In addition, each person will be responsible for their behavior, emotional responses and cognitive functioning skills.
