Work Incentive Network Program

Broe Rehabilitation Services, Inc. has designed a comprehensive work program to full fill the work needs of people with disabilities who have the desire to work, however, cannot perform competitive employment duties on a full-time and consistent basis.

Many vocational rehabilitation programs offer return-to-work programs focusing on competitive employment or volunteer activities. This all-or-nothing approach leaves a huge gap in the work potential of people with disabilities who can work but not on a full-time and/or competitive basis.

The Work Incentive Network (W.I.N.) Program is specifically designed to provide "REAL WORK" in a therapeutic work and educational setting. The following is a list of some typical "REAL WORK" types of jobs:

Work Environment
The Broe Rehabilitation Services, Inc. W.I.N. Program offers a highly supportive and structures work setting for people with disabilities. Workers are able to earn monies based on their productivity level and the accuracy and overall quality of work performed. The W.I.N. Program is designed to be the next logical step to create a work environment for individuals who cannot be competitively employed. The W.I.N. Program is designed to be comprehensive offering three distinct vocational benefits.

  1. A direct job placement site to give individuals an opportunity to work, the ability to earn money, and to develop a sense of purpose through work.
  2. work training opportunity to teach individuals basic work skills to enhance work personality traits and to build generic work skills. The work training program gives the individual an opportunity to build work skills in order to progress towards competitive employment.
  3. Vocational/Work Evaluation & Assessment program. The W.I.N. Program offers an opportunity for vocational testing to determine work limitations. Work adjustment and Situational Assessment programs offer opportunities for direct behavioral and emotional management, along with task and work analysis.

Therapeutic Work Program
The W.I.N. Program is specifically designed vocational rehabilitation program for people with disabilities who have work potential. Each worker's job will be selected based on work interests, as well as physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral strengths and limitations. The W.I.N. Program is designed for severely to mildly impaired people with disabilities based on their work potential.

The W.I.N. Program offers three specific and distinct vocational tracks.

  • Track 1: Short-term - For assessment of job readiness for competitive employment.
  • Track 2: Transitional - To build existing vocational skills and to enhance work potential.
  • Track 3: Long-term - For individuals who are not able to engage in competitive employment.

Direct work intervention, treatment and support are implemented through therapeutic work shifts. Other therapeutic work goals are to build positive self-esteem, self-confidence, motivation, overall wellness, a sense of purpose in a productive atmosphere and to develop relationships with co-workers and staff.

Residential/Group Home Integration
The W.I.N. Program at Broe Rehabilitation Services, Inc. is specifically designed to work and integrate with residential and group home programming schedules for people with disabilities. The W.I.N. Program is open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Specific programming for medication implementation, behavioral management, work incentives, etc., is available through the W.I.N. Program.

Work Accommodations
Each work site and task can be specifically modified with accommodations to meet the physical, cognitive, behavioral and emotional needs of workers with disabilities. The W.I.N. Program has staff available for consultation with rehabilitation professionals on an as needed basis to assist in each person's work needs and to create an optimal work environment. Available rehabilitation professionals include Vocational Counselors, Occupational Therapist, Recreational Therapist, Rehabilitation Psychologist, Neuropsychologist, Job Coach, Speech and Language Pathologist, Physical Therapist, Music Therapist, Art Therapist, Rehabilitation Nurse, etc.

An important work programming goal is to provide the least restrictive work environment for each worker.
